Baccarat Systems

I ran a search recently for baccarat systems and was disgusted by the number of shysters out there claiming to have winning, proven baccarat systems. The truth of the matter is that no guaranteed baccarat system exists. The only time you’ll see people claiming to have a real baccarat system is when they have something to sell you.

That does not mean all hope is lost, however. For a casino game, baccarat is actually a pretty good bet. If you follow proper baccarat strategy, you’ll be treated to one of the lowest house advantages in the casino.

Why They Don’t Work

You can read my article about betting systems for a refutation of betting systems in general. But the short of it is that baccarat betting systems do not work because they do nothing to change the rules of the game. Baccarat is a very rigid game in which the player cannot make decisions that change the outcome of any round of play.

The only decisions a player can make in baccarat are whether to bet on the dealer, player or tie. That’s it. After making your bets in baccarat, you become a mere spectator. The outcome is determined entirely by luck.

The salesmen of some baccarat systems tell you that they have a special technique for sizing your bets, for using a flat betting system or using some other type of progressive betting system. These are just fancy terms that they use to try to make their systems sound different than all the rest. No matter how you size your bets, you’ll never change the underlying rules of the game.

Let’s think about something else too: how many different baccarat systems do you see for sale online? I saw half a dozen after a two-minute search this morning. Presumably there are people buying these systems and trying them out. Maybe even telling their friends about the system…? And if that’s the case, why hasn’t the casino changed the rules of baccarat or stopped offering the game? If there were really people out there winning all this money, the casino would be on top of that in a heartbeat.

Types of Baccarat Betting Systems

Each system takes its own approach to the game, but there are a couple of major types of baccarat systems. One of the most common is the progressive betting system. In this system, the only thing you have to do is double your bet if you lose. This is also known as the Martingale system. This is a very dangerous system because people underestimate how easy it is to hit a bad run and blow a ton of money at the table.

Another type of baccarat system is one that relies on the scoreboard. These types tell you to place bets after a certain number of outcomes have been observed. For example, the system might tell you to place a bet on the dealer if you see the player win three times in a row. Another system might tell you to “ride the streak.”

These types of baccarat systems are completely unreliable. The only “streaks” that happen in casino games are observable only after the fact. It doesn’t matter how many times a certain outcome has occurred in the past; the next round is still an independent random event.

There are other types of systems that are sold along with claims such as “we’re not this type of system or that type of system; we are completely unique.” Those claims are either completely false or they are based on the fact that the author of the system has changed some minor aspect of other betting systems.

We have yet to see a single casino remove baccarat due to too many big winners. For some reason, casinos are happy to let even the highest of high rollers play at the baccarat table all night long. Baccarat does have a low house advantage, though, so there’s nothing wrong with giving a system a try. You might even win a bunch of money. All I’m saying is to not waste your money on some silly “guaranteed winning” system and don’t bet your house on it.
